Young Bombers too good for Tigers

May 30th 2010 07:59
Lauderdale have picked up a big win for 2010 after spending most of this season on the bottom of the ladder they are now off the bottom with a big win over Hobart at the TCA Ground. Two goals to young Thor Boscott who made his debut last week, and he's only 15 years of age has seen the Bombers, even though they were held scorless in the third quarter run home winners 10.11 (71) to Hobart 5.8 (38) Martinovich also managed to kick two goals, and Spaulding, Allen, Joyce, Hill, Frankcombe and Roberts all finished with one goal each. For the Tigers they only had the three goal kickers Kurt Styles booted 2, Todd Willing 2, and Luke Sullivan also got on the score sheet with just the one goal. It was a wet old day in Hobart yesterday, the Bombers would be happy to see the likes of Jack Siggins, Robbie McManus and Alex Hill playing well.

for Hobart though coach Graham Fox would be feeling disappointed that the Tigers dropped a game they probably should have won at home but more importantly the Tigers had gotten themselves a massive win over the Demons last weekend and would have hoped to have kept this going.

Lauderdale would be glad to finally be off the bottom of the ladder, and coach Darren Winter would be glad to see his young Bombers can run out a game. Nerves would have set in at three quarter time when they failed to score anything and Hobart kicked 2.2 to cut back the lead but their last quarter saw them only kick the 1 behind whereas the Bombers booted 3 goals the only three goals of that last quarter. In games gone by the second halves have been whee the Bombers have lost the games, they had a good first half last week, a good first half early in the year against the Demons, but lost them.

In the reopening of their home ground they had a chance to win the gamke against Hobart, they were coming fast at the Tigers, but they were unable to prevent the Tigers from goaling in that game. Lauderdale have a tough game next weekend, they are playing Launceston at Auora Stadium, the Blues smashed the Dockers yesterday.

Should the Bombers win though, they will just be 1 game out of the top six, a place they would not have thought they would have been a few weeks ago. The bottom 3 of the top six is pretty open, it's just a matter of a game for Hobart, 2 games for Glenorchy, should the Maggies win this weekend and the Dockers upset the Demons, both sides would be back in touch with top half of the ladder. Clarence is clearly out in front having not lost a game yet.

North Launceston is on 24 points, Devonport and North Hobart both on 20, then it's Hobart on 16, Glenorchy on 12, and then the Dockers, Bombers, and Dogs all on 8 points.
