Warrick Capper joins struggling Tasmanian club
March 7th 2010 00:10
Kermandie finally have some good news with the massive signing of former Sydney and Brisbane player Warrick Capper yesterday. Capper will join the struggling Tasmanian club for 5 games this season, the 46 year old was considered retired and attempting to enter into politics but it seems for 2010 at least Warrick Capper will be running around once again. Capper ended his AFL career in 1991 back with the Sydney Swans, Capper kicked 388 goals in 124 games in his career, and his best season being 1987 when he kicked 103 goals. He became famous for his ability to take regular spectacular high flying marks and he won the Mark of the Year at the peak of his career in 1987.
Capper's flamboyance gave him off-field notoriety. Nicknamed "Wazza", Capper is widely known for his eccentric personality. The Robins are hopeful that the signing of Warrick Capper will start a trend of future signings to the club, who entered recess last season due to lack of playing numbers, this season the club had hopes of returning to the SFL but again failed to gain the required playing numbers, the news of his signing should see the Robins gain a fair bit of publicity now, and the call for players could see players who cannot get a game elsewhere find their way to the regional club.
Hopefully this is just one of many new signings for the club which has been around 123 years.
