Trip south a tough ask for Pies

SOUTHERN clubs hate making the journey to West Park to play Burnie.
If there's an equivalent for Coastal teams travelling south in the Wrest Point Tasmanian State League, then it would have to be the trip to Bellerive to play Clarence.
This week Devonport has drawn the short straw and will meet the reigning premier this afternoon.
Magpie coach Errol Bourn is under no illusions about how tough the assignment is, but he's not heading south conceding defeat.
"You have to believe you can win every game, otherwise you wouldn't bother," Bourn said.
The Devonport coach said he would probably aim for a tall forward line against the Roos, with the likes of Rhys Colbeck, Brett McCall and Vin Ponsonby as the targets. Ponsonby has played much of the season so far in the back line, but Bourn said he was also a capable forward.
Ryan Keep is also back into the side and is a proven goal kicker, providing the Pies with another option if he goes forward, while the return of Clint Matthews will add some more height and size.
Tassie Mariners star Sam Rundle is also back after recently helping the state side to an impressive division two Australian under 18 championship and will be a handy player around the ground.
Hobart pushed the Roos two weeks ago and was beaten by Devonport last week, which has also given the Magpies a glimmer of hope.
"Hobart worked us very hard and it was a tough, physical game," Bourn said. "It was probably as good a lead-up as we could want ahead of taking on Clarence."
The Roos will be without Tasmanian captain Cameron Thurley, who is still out with a knee injury, but Bourn said Clarence still had plenty of depth and would be a tough opponent.
