SUMMARY

Thank god it's Friday Night Footy, football returns to Friday Night at Aurora Stadium with crosstown rivals facing off in a game with a lot of impotence for both sides. North Launceston are aiming to get up to second after North Hobart lost to the Tigers last Saturday at Bellerive Oval, the Demons had the chance to take a break on the Magpies and Bombers but failed to do so and now if they lose to top of the table Clarence they can drop as far as fourth if North and Devonport win on the weekend. The Dogs they have a chance to keep in touich with the Top 6, a loss and they are going to be in some more trouble for the season.

The Bombers had themselves a minor hiccup last week against the Dockers, though a massive fight back towards the end of the game saw the minimise the damage, South Launceston also had a minor loss last weekend, a loss that could give coach Dale Chugg a bit of hope for the future with the young list that he has. The Bombers coming off a terrible season last season are looking to get back into the finals like they were in the past TFL.

If the game is like the last time they met, it should be a pretty tight affair, the Dogs may fancy themselves a bit there if they can keep Justin Cotton, and Darren Crawford under control. Former Docker Zane Murphy is also a man that the Bulldogs are going to need to keep an eye out for because he has the ability to bomb the ball from outside 50.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Darren Crawford (North Launceston) – Talented small forward was quiet against the Dockers last week, but he still has the ability to pop up with a bunch of goals. His accuracy has been a bit of a concern this season, but once he gets the accuracy down, the young forward will be up there with the Derbyshires, and Geappens.

Jobi Harper (South Launceston) – Young centre half forward booted a few goals last week against Launceston, has been averaging goals most of the season, he Blackberry, Viney have become important for the Dogs this season, Musicka and Harper are needed for the Dogs this weekend.

QUESTION MARKS

The Bombers struggled against the Dockers last weekend, and went down only just, the Bombers struggled against the Doggies at Youngtown earlier in the season, do the Bombers have some concerns? And can Crawford bounce back this weekend?]

South Launceston are a fighting team, they will fight out a game, they fought it out against Launceston last weekend, but the Dogs have been smacked a few times in recent times, are the Dogs on the rise at a slow rate?

WHO WILL WIN AND WHY

North Launceston are a dangerous side, they are looking like a finals contender this season, even after the hiccup against the Dockers last weekend. The game was looking very ugly, at half time the Dockers lead 9.6.60 to 3.4.22 at one point in the last parts of the game, the Bombers were trialing by only a couple of behinds.

Justin Cotton finished the game with 4 goals, Crawford, and Allan O'Sign both had 2 goals and the Bombers walk away without being punished by the Dockers too much. The Bulldogs were in line to be smashed by the Blues as well last weekend but they fought back and only just went down as well. Last time they met the game was a very close affair as well, so this could be a very good game with the Bombers winning and they will be second on the ladder until the Demons play Clarence, and Devonport play Glenorchy on the Saturday.

South Launceston are on the improve, albeit very slowly and Dale Chugg who was once a Northern Bomber wouldn be happy with the way the development is going. But the Doggies aren't going to get up this weekend, if they do it will be a very big upset in the grand scheme of the ladder. Darren Crawford, Allan O'Sign, Justin Cotton, as well as Thorp, and Murphy are going to be tough to contain for the Dogs.

Shane Wager also has that ability to become a pain for the Dogs as well, for the Dogs, Blackberry, Heazlewood, and Harper are going to be thereabouts and Mitch Hills in the ruck is going to be dangerous, it should be a very good game in the end.
