FORM: Glenorchy's has completely dissipated. After being undefeated after round four, and premiership favourites, the Magpies have lost three of their past four by an average of five goals to Lauderdale, Hobart and North Hobart. It has been the reverse for Clarence, winning its past four games and surging to second spot.
BURNING QUESTION: What has happened to Glenorchy? After being the early pace setter, it is the Pies who have fallen off the pace. Can Clarence revenge its season-opening loss to the Magpies in front of more than 8000 fans at KGV?
THE KEY: Clarence struggled massively early in the season due to the absence of centre half-forward Matthew Drury. The hit up forward is the most important man in the Roos structure, even more invaluable than star Cameron Thurley. He went down with a serious calf injury in round three but now returns.
WHO WILL WIN AND WHY? The roles have reversed since the season opener, Clarence has all the form and momentum and starting to resemble the two-time premiership champ it is rather than the mere shadow that turned out in red and white in the opening four rounds. Roos utility Cameron Thurley is dominating the competition, the addition of Mitch Williamson has given Clarence a big forward target freeing up small forward Trent Standen, giving the Roos the structure and the talent to push past a Magpie unit missing Jason Akermanis and relying too much on Jaye Bowden, Rhys Mott and Ben Reynolds. To add to the Roos strength, they regain premiership trio Drury, Ben Setchell and Stuart Whitelaw.
TIP: Clarence by 28 points.
