SUMMARY
The top of the table Roos take on a Dockers side that are on the slide, after two big wins to start the season the last month the Dockers haven't won a game. The last time these two met was the Preliminary Final last season, and former Dockers coach Justin Plapp had the chance to send the Dockers into the Grand Final but he missed the goal, and the Roos went on to win the flag. In the past the Dockers and Roos battle each other in 2 grand finals, both times the roos walked away with the flag.
Now days the Roos are still looking to be the top side of the league, the Dockers, well they are just trying to stay in touch with the top 6, their loss last week to the Bulldogs has put them only percentage above the Tigers, and Bulldogs, with Lauderdale a game clear on the bottom as the only side to have only one win for the season. This is the ABC TV Game of the day and the Dockers are really going to be hard up this week, they have Jake Brakey in doubt for the game, they have to try and find someone to stop the forward line of the Roos, it's only been 6 rounds and already Geappen has 39 goals, with 11 rounds to go surely he'll be able to crack the ton, last week he booted 8 again, Thurley booted 4, and the Roos managed to run away with the game against Launceston, after it looked like early that the Blues were going to win the game,
Burnie, well, at the half time break they were in front of the Bulldogs, but the Doggies managed to overrun them and win the game, winning only their second game for the season, and what a big win it would have been for them. The Dockers are going to have to do the impossible if they are going to win this one, they have to beat the Roos at Bellerive Oval, and they have to shut down Geappen, Thurley, and others to win this game.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Brett Geappen (Clarence) – The danger man for the Roos, and a man that Dockers are going to need to stop, he is the man that is going to really cause them headaches among a few others. Geappen has been profiled in the Players Watch a few times this season, but that's because it's becoming very interesting to see if he can break 100 goals this season, which to Round 7 he already has 39 goals. By the end of the weekend if the Dockers defense cannot handle him he could be close to 50 goals for the season.
Harry Walters (Burnie) – The major goal kicker last week for the Dockers, and named on the half forward flank, with Luke Shackleton playing as their full forward they are going to need both firing and kicking goals and their defense working hard to get over the line here in this game.
QUESTION MARKS
Clarence have been looking unstoppable, can they keep this up? They have not been beaten at Bellerive Oval since the inception of the TSL, and have the best forward line structure in the league this season, will this be the week that the forward line misfires?
Burnie have been struggling, they were belted by Hobart, they were overran by Glenorchy, and South Launceston managed to outlast them, what can the Dockers do to stop their season from flatlining? Has the summer exodus finally struck the Dockers, and now the real Dockers are standing up for all to see?
WHO WILL WIN AND WHY
Clarence are unbeaten, and look unbeatable, and haven't lost a game at Bellerive Oval since the last Premier League season, the Dockers, haven't been traveling well, 4 loses in a row, and a real risk now of having 5 loses in a row and some people starting to question whether or not the team can actually play finals this season. It is hard to see where the Dockers are going to beat the Roos, the Roos forward line is fit and firing, the midfielders are aggressive and the Roos are just class all over the park.
The added favour for the Roos is they are playing good football not only at Bellerive Oval, but also away from the oval as well and this trend looks to continue this week. Even though the Dockers do need to win this clash, they are going to fall short and they are going to have to hope that the 3 teams below them do not win, so they can stay in the top 6 this weekend. The Roos will want to keep up the momentum up and try to be the first team in the new TSL to go the season without a defeat and hopefuly take out the flag at the end of the season.
The Dockers have a chance of pulling off a massive upset, at the moment it could be seen as the biggest upset in the new history of the TSL, but reality says that the Dockers are going to be just another W for Clarence, and some would feel, it's a case of how much Clarence.
