PREVIEW
The first week of the split round ends with arch-rivals Glenorchy and North Hobart battling it out under lights at KGV Oval. The Glenorchy juggernaut took it's time to get the better of North Launceston last weekend, the Magpies finished the game with 14 goals to 6 to win it by 40 points. But the Pies were looking like they were in some trouble when the Bombers were starting to kick away. The last quarter was when the Magpies game alive, though twi quick goals to Darren Crawford looked to bring the bombers back into the game.
It took the Akermanis show, 4 marks, 2 goals, 2 goal assists to help bring the game home for the Magpies. At the other end of the state, North Hobart put on the best performance of their season against Burnie at North Hobart. They managed to belt the Dockers by 54-points seeing them finally start to click after slow starts this season.
The midfield depth of Ken Hall who has been in damaging form this season, Nathan Street returning from a season ending knee injury last season and Rhys Long who came out of retirement and finally former Docker turned Bomber now Dee Zane Murphy have been in great form for the Demons.
The Demons have also unearthed a future star in Julian DeBosz who made his debut against the Tigers. For Glenorchy recruits Ben Reynolds and Rhys Mott continue the form, even though Reynolds was not at his best against the Bombers. Bowden again was on deadly up forward, and Bowring was proving a handful as well. Glenorchy's fitness was far better than its opponents North Launceston, as it was against the Roos, and Tigers before them.
This week, they are against their arch nemesis, North Hobart under lights playing for the Bacon-Reece Cup. Glenorchy has had the better of their rivals North Hobart, in the 1990s it was entirely different, now the man that sunk the Magpies' hearts during the 1990s Byron Howard looks to coach his first game against his former side.
Robbie Devine too will be assisting in masterminding the downfall of the Demons, on the otherside of the fence, Nathan Street lines up against the team he played in a premiership for in Glenorchy. A big crowd is expected to roll on in to see these fierce rivals do battle.

PLAYERS TO WATCH
Jaye Bowden (Glenorchy) – A consistent performer for the Magpies, another five goals against the Bombers saw the Magpies runaway with the game against them. With Reynolds possibly carrying an injury Bowden can be an adequate replacement for him.
Ken Hall (North Hobart) – The damaging midfielder has been on fire for the Demons this season, went forward and managed to kick himself a few goals last weekend against Burnie. He’ll be one of the keys to the North Hobart side this weekend to get them over the line against the Magpies.
QUESTION MARKS
Glenorchy captain Jaye Bowden has 14 goals from 3 games, and has been a consistent performer for the Magpies, as stated above, can he be the man to kick the game away from the Demons? Will Glenorchy have the fitness to overrun the Demons?
North Hobart has showed they are above the middle of the pack, they kept with one of the undefeated teams in Launceston a couple of weeks ago. But are they good enough and fit enough to keep with the Magpies who are looking tough to beat?
WILL WIN AND WHY
A game that can swing either way, the Demons are improving this season, and their midfield strength of Long, Hall, Street and Murphy and now with Debosz looking like he has the potential to be a big star for the Demons. They kept with the Blues who are undefeated, they could've even won that game but the game was taken away from them. But then they face another massive challenge at KGV against Glenorchy, a team that's form has been great, they've been slow starters this season.
Glenorchy's fitness has been a key to them coming home with a wet sail and blowing both Hobart, and North Launceston away. The Pies have seen players like Bowden, Bowring, Mott, and Reynolds bob up and bring them home. Last weekend the Bombers pegged back 2 goals but then were blown away when Akermanis bobbed up and removed the challenge and threat of the Bombers.
The Magpies have many more stars then they did last season, which saw their finals campaign almost come to an end in straight sets, but they managed to snatch a win and then North Hobart blew them away like what has happened in the past. Added to this the fitness, and the Magpies themselves have unearthed Jack Johnson who had a fairly decent debut as well.
It should see this Magpie side continue their TSL season unbeaten, but they are not going to blow the Demons away, the Demons' midfield as well as having Allison up forward will see them compete with the Magpies. Ken Hall has shown he's a goal kicker, North Hobart may have the edge over the Pies in the ruck while they miss Simon Spencer.
