SUMMARY
The Clarence boys are sitting pretty on top of the ladder as the only undefeated team as they accounted for the Demons last Saturday night, the Bombers who upset the Magpies almost came off with a big over over Hobart at their home ground in it's grand reopening but the Tigers were able to hold on when it really counted. Hobart are now no longer without a win but they still remain on the bottom of the table, Lauderdale despite their loss last week can hold their heads high they played well, in mixed conditions, it would rain, and there was sun at times as well.
The Roos are clearly the best team in the league right now, no loses, and no troubles yet, who can beat the Roos? They have not yet lost at Bellerive Oval since the inception of the TSL, it has been close to two years since the Mighty Roos have failed to walk away with the points at their home venue. The Bombers have not found this venue to be a happy hunting ground, having struggled there in recent seasons.
Lauderdale have the upset over Glenorchy under their belt as their only win for the season, but the Bombers are going to need to pull off a massive win if they are going to take the points here under lights at Bellerive Oval. With Geappen's recent form up forward, the Roos are going to be pretty unstoppable.
Lauderdale this week look to push small forward Paul Hudson into the middle and throw Hyland into the forward line, Brennan Savage and Brett Gappen will be partnered with Trent Standen in the Clarence forward line, Savage had started out as the Roos backman, and the Roos have also pushed Sharman back, he played forward for a bit this season as well. Surprisingly for some people Geappen has been on fire in the roos forward line this season, and looks like a perfect replacement with Savage for Dutton.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Cameron Thurley (Clarence) – One of the top players in the TSL, and for Clarence, booted 3 goals against the Demons last week, and was in the bests for the Roos, he can play 3 different roles for them, often playing in the midfield he sneaks up forard and bobs up with a couple of goals, in the past he has known to fall back and be an extra man in defense. It's been hard to pick just one player to watch every week for the Roos they have so many talented players that can be dangerous in so many different ways.
Robbie McManus (Lauderdale) – The young midfielder has been one of the best for the Bombers in the last two weeks, he kicked 5 against Glenorchy leading them to the win, and was able to gain a lot of possessions for the Bombers against Hobart, not only this but he managed to use them to perfection as well.
QUESTION MARKS
Clarence look unbeatable at Bellerive, and unbeatable full stop this season, after 4 Rounds, and being back at home, will complacency creep into the Roos outfit? Or are the Roos going to remain unbeatable at Bellerive, and the league for yet another week?
Lauderdale took Glenorchy to their limit and won, and took Hobart to the limits and almost won, can the Bombers do the unthinkable and actually win? Who is going to be able to stop the Clarence forward line of Standen, Savage and Geappen? Then you have Drury, Matthew Geappen, and even Cameron Thurley that can go, is there anything the Bombers can do to win this?
WHO WILL WIN AND WHY
Clarence are the team to beat this season, well, so it seems early, 4-0 and haven't lost at their own home ground in close to 2 years, the Bombers are a good young team as seen by their colts doing well again this season but their seniors are in for a massive test under lights Friday night and Clarence just have so many players that are going to pop up and kick a goal to help them get over the line.
Lauderdale haven't got the defenders, nor the midfield that can beat the Roos, even though they have two former Roo-boys in their line up with Joe Edwards and coach Darren Winter both coming from Clarence but even that is not going to help the Bombers as they have to stop the forward line of Geappen, Savage and Standen, as well as having Drury up there and Whitelaw who can goal as well. The Roos' midfield with Cameron Thurley can press forward, and Matthew Geappen can play in the midfield as well, even though he has been a bit out of touch with a niggling iniry this season, he can still be dangerous.
It is hard to see how the Bombers are going to win, even though they had a good showing against Hobart, and beat Glenorchy, those two teams aren't on the same page as the Roos have been this season, which will see the Roos run out easy winners in Friday Night Football.
