PREVIEW

Round Four of the TSL Season kicks off at Aurora Stadium with North Launceston taking on the undefeated Glenorchy. Last weekend the Bombers took on Launceston, while Glenorchy enjoyed a bye after their Round Three clash against Clarence was moved to the season opener. These teams have only met the three times in the new Tasmanian State League, with Glenorchy holding the honours of 2 wins, North Launceston holds just the one.

Good Friday saw the Bombers get hammered by their cross-town rivals, as Brian Finch again showed his goalkicking prowess booting 7. Sonny Whiting is enjoying being back in the Tasmanian State League booting 6. The Bombers crashing to a 97 point loss to their rivals Launceston. Glenorchy the week before took on Lauderdale underlights at KGV, and were never troubled, never looked like they had gotten out of second gear all night. Ben Reynolds booted 5, Bowring 3 and Hodge who is starting to find some form shared two goals with Bowden and Cox.

Rhys Mott is starting to find his feet in the new black and white and David Kameric had a successful return to the Tasmanian State League getting in the bests for the Pies. Anthony Viney was the major goal kicker for the Bombers last weekend, kicking 2, the rest were single goalkickers. New recruit Paul O'Shea was named the Bombers best on ground, the former Western Bulldogs rookie came to the Bombers via the QAFL has started to find his feet in the TSL.

Praciak has continued his good form, as has Luke McCarty both were in the bests and Taylor Whitford has slotted back into the side nicely for the Bombers returning from South Adelaide. Glenorchy played off against North Launceston in the 2nd last Grand Final of the last Statewide League, seeing the Magpies win their first premiership since 1988. David Kameric (Glenorchy) and Andrew McLean (North Launceston) are the only surviving members of that Grand Final. The Bombers won their last encounter last season, at KGV Oval, Darren Crawford, Shane Wager and Zane Murphy were the ones that helped take the game away from the Pies.

Glenorchy were suffering from losing players, and having injuries, but the Bombers start to last season was pretty close to their start to this season.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Paul O'Shea (North Launceston) –
Best on ground for the Bombers in their 97-point loss to the Blues last weekend, he's been one of the best for the Bombers since coming to the club from Queensland, the Bombers will hope to see him continue that form.

Ben Reynolds (Glenorchy) – The Magpies' assistant coach has been in good form up forward for the Magpies, He booted 5 against the Southern Bombers, booted 3 against Hobart & Clarence, he also managed to help set up goals as well. There would be some expectation to see him continue it against North Launceston.

QUESTION MARKS

North Launceston played last weekend, and Glenorchy had the bye, will the week off work in North Launceston's favour or will it see the Pies overrun them late in the game?

Akermanis was stretchered off in his one off appearance in the Ovens & Murray League last weekend, been named on the bench this weekend for the Magpies, will Akermanis be able to be a force for the Magpies?

WILL WIN AND WHY

After a strong start to the season the Bombers met their first challenge last weekend in Launceston, and they failed it losing by 97-points. This weekend they met another side that are in contention for the flag in Glenorchy, and the Magpies who have beaten Clarence already have been pushed by Hobart but managed to cruise to a win over Lauderdale.

Glenorchy have had a better off-season in recruitment, landing Reynolds, Collis, Mott, and also Akermanis and with players coming back from injury for Glenorchy it brings them back to the strong team they were at the start of the TSL. But the Magpies have been slow starters, and last time out their kicking for goal was sometimes inaccurate against the Bombers, they should have enough to see off the Northern Bombers
