SUMMARY
This week the winless Magpies are headed to Windsor Park to face the Blues who are currently sitting there with 2-1 with their only loss being against the Dockers, the Magpies have been struggling, they had a heartbreaking loss back in Round 1 against the Dockers and now they are facing a long a season if they cannot get a win here against the Blues. Last week Launceston easily accounted for South Launceston who managed a minor fight but it was still not enough to get them over the line in a big game against this side.
Some have seen Devonport as a certain finals side, and right now they are not looking like they are going to make it, it's very early in the season but you would think if a team was 0-4 a comeback to play a major part in the finals is going to be pretty difficult with there being 14 games after this week to go in the season, and there being two clear standouts so far early in the season, Devonport could see their season start to slip a bit.
It's all on the line for the Magpies this weekend, but you could almost say the same for any team this weekend this early in the season.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Nathan O’Donoghue (Launceston) – The Blues needed someone to step up and boot some goals each week with the loss of spearhead Derbyshire and O'Donoghue & Finch as well has managed to do that so far for the Blues and he's a key for their chances this week.
Clay Hardy (Devonport) – One of the best for the Magpies in their midfield going to be an important part of how they do this week, along with Tassie Medal winner Kurt Heazlewood.
QUESTION MARKS
Launceston has had a very good start to the season with their two wins, and only one loss coming to the Dockers, are the Blues ready to make a big impact that they never did last season? Or are they again up for a midseason drop off?
Devonport haven't had a great start to their season, and their second half last season was even worse, can the Magpies find a way to save their season and pull off a big win here this week? Or are they just going to have an average season all around and miss the finals?
WHO WILL WIN AND WHY
Launceston are playing at home and after a big win against the Bulldogs last weekend they are going to be looking to be too strong for the Magpies, with Nathan O'Donoghue and Finch in the Launceston forward line is a very dangerous forward line for the Magpies to try and cope with, the Magpies are going to need to try and beat the Blues in the centre breaks and hope their forward lines can take advantage of the lack of a big name backman down there now for Blues.
