PREVIEW

Clarence make their return to the Tasmanian State League this week after a short lived venture into the Foxtel Cup, they were beaten by 71-points by WAFL's runners up Claremont. This was Clarence's first loss at Bellerive Oval in 3 seasons, but in the Tasmanian State League they are still unbeaten at the venue. Launceston were impressive last weekend making it three from three with a 97-point spanking of North Launceston.

Clarence despite the claims from the Fox Sport commentators are not undefeated in the TSL, they were beaten by Glenorchy in the season opener, they are looking to make up for the two loses they have had this season. The Roos were impressive against Hobart smashing them the week before, but against Claremont they were never un the hunt. Now they face a Launceston side who has a fighting forward line Brian Finch has already booted 21 goals from his 3 games this season.

Their second tall marking option up forward Nathan O'Donoghue has started to come back into form and provides them that second tall up forward. Sonny Whiting also bobbed up and kick himself six goals last weekend. Last season Clarence's only loss for the season came at the hands of the Blues, and in 2009 the Blues almost took the points at a rain soaked Bellerive Oval.

Bad kicking by both sides ended that game with the Roos getting the points, Clarence has had the better of the blues though. The Roos showed the Blues what a force they are by dominating them twice in the finals. Launceston are looking every bit like the team that they were before they entered the league, now they hope to reap the rewards.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Cameron Thurley (Clarence) –
The ever consistent player for the Roos, he was one of their best in their loss to the Claremont football Club last weekend, he'll be a handful for the Blues this weekend.

Brian Finch (Launceston) – 21 goals in 3 games, he's on track for another Hudson Medal, a player the Roos must stop if they are to win this game.

QUESTION MARKS

Will Clarence feel any effects from the humiliating loss last weekend in the Foxtel Cup? Or will they be all business once again?

Launceston has not lived up to anyone's expectations here they are three from three, and are facing a team that hasn't been beaten by any Tasmanian sides in 3 years on Bellerive Oval, can the Roos do it?

WILL WIN AND WHY

It would almost seem unthinkable to tip against Clarence at Bellerive, the venue they have had a strangle hold on for three years. But the Roos are still far from full strength, even with the return of Nick Paine, the Clarence machine has spluttered rather than purred so far this season. The continued absence of centre half-forward Matthew Drury will continue to hurt the Roos as he is the most vial cog in this side.

Launceston however, are at full strength, and full of confidence and unlike the last time they ventured down from Launceston they have plenty of forward options that are going to test the Clarence miserly defence. The Roos called on Clinton Riley last last weekend, this weekend however he's back at his new club.

Still the Roos are going to be dangerous at Bellerive, so don't think that they are just going to roll over and die.

PREDICTION
Launceston by 10 points
