SUMMARY
This week it's again David vs Goliath when South Launceston take the field against Launceston the team that again fell victim to the surprising start by Burnie after all their turmoul that has happened. Launceston and South Launceston are not that far apart, both sides have 1 win and 1 loss for the season, the Bulldogs were smashed by the reigning premiers at home, despite an ABC TV mistake which may have had a few of their supporters living in the South pretty happy, but this week they are against the Blues, a team that has had their measure last season, but the Dogs managed to get a shock win over them.
The Bulldogs have become a bit of a giant killer in their quest for some wins, last season they got a win over Devonport, North Hobart, and Launceston and all of their wins were pretty close wins, they were unable to smash a side last season. This season they are even younger and have a small chance of getting over the line here last season this side did not have Derbyshire for a few weeks, and this season they do not have him at all. This has a chance of going either way,
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Brian Finch (Launceston) - The Blues have needed to find someone to replace Derbyshire as he returned during the off season and Finch has been a decent replacement so far this season for the Blues.
Aaron Viney (South Launceston) – One of the more senior heads at the Bulldogs, and one of their better players as well, he is starting in the forward pocket and the Dogs are going to need to boot a lot of goals to win this game.
QUESTION MARKS
Launceston lost to the Dogs last year, without their spear head can the Blues who are 1-1 after the first two rounds kick enough to get over the line? Was last weeks loss to the Dockers just a case of the Dockers having a better midfield, or the Blues lack of a forward like Derbyshire that they have been missing since he retired, and were missing most of last year?
Can the Bulldogs recover from the big loss to Clarence and pull off a big upset this weekend? The young Dogs have beaten top sides before, they did it last season, were they just flukes?
WHO WILL WIN AND WHY
Launceston should win this, last season South Launceston managed a couple of close wins but in their future games they were belted more often then not, they are still young so if they can keep the Blues from smashing them today that will be a huge effort for them. But you cannot write them off, a lot of people have written the Dockers off and they are sitting pretty after the first two games, and show no signs of their horrible summer that was meant to give them the spoon.
The Blues have Brian Finch who has been a decent replacement for their retired forward, the Bulldogs need to get their midfield kicking the ball down the throat of their forwards, they cannot afford to waste any chances here today.
