SUMMARY
Glenorchy bounced back on the weekend with a massive win over the Tigers as they opened their grandstand at KGV Oval, the Bombers still are without a win after being hammered by North Hobart, the former Burnie pair Gardam and Wells managed to give the Bombers all sorts of headaches last weekedn. This is the first time in TSL competition that they are going to face each other at KGV Oval, Glenorchy have managed to take the points every time they have faced so far in their TSL clashes and a lot of the times before they have managed to keep themselves in front of the Bombers. Last week the worry was the forward line structure of the Magpies, well with 20.6 that seems to have been a bit of an early worry that only worked against the Roos.
The Magpies kept themselves ahead of the Tigers for most of the game, and then in the last quarter the Magpies ran away with it winning by 43, the Bombers however they have some problems their defense could not handle the three North Hobart forwards, one of which started the day as a backman and still finished with 4 goals, Robbie Devine and Zeke Gardam showed up the Lauderdale players, going into the half time break the Bombers looked to be holding their own but once the half was over so was the resistance the Demons ran riot and crushed the bombers in the end.
It's going to be interesting to see how the Bombers are going to be able to handle having David Hunt, Bowring, and Darcy around the Glenorchy Forward line as Hunt and Bowring kicked 6 and 5 respectively last week against Hobart, and Darcy, well he still has an average of 1 goal a game, but he might be able to find himself on the scoring sheet more this weekend.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Jonathon Bowring (Glenorchy) – One of the Magpies best last week against the Tigers booted 5 goals for Glenorchy, he along with David Hunt will be the players to watch out for if the Bombers are going to win, but the Magpies also have Matthews, Darcy, and Parker around that can kick goals as well.
Marcus Fitze (Lauderdale) – One of the better players for the Bombers, they are going to be hoping to have a few players that are going to stand up against Glenorchy, the more experienced Fitze is going to be one of those, Williamson has been good in the middle as well, but Fitze seems to pop up all over.
QUESTION MARKS
Glenorchy are at KGV Oval against this weekend, and playing a game that will be considered rather easy is it going to take a toll on their focus, or will the Magpies come out of this still focused on beating the good teams as well? Coud the Magpies again this week have a good day out kicking wise and boot 20.6 or even more?
Lauderdale's backline struggled with both Gardam, and Devine last week, and then they struggled to contain Jesse Wells when he moved from the backline to the forward line, can their backline find a way to beat the Glenorchy forard line? Can the Bombers' forward line out score the Magpies at all during this match?
WHO WILL WIN AND WHY
Glenorchy got the win they needed against Hobart last weekend, and managed to put their kicking for goal woes behind them and just trounced the Tigers later in the game, the Bombers looked ok early, but their kicking was a let down and then their second half saw them fall away and the Demons ran away with that game. This game is another big test for the younger members of the bombers lineup and a test to see how Darren Winter coaches against the team that was his arch rivals back when he was a player.
Glenorchy has been too strong a lot in the past, and I cannot see this changing again this week, unless the Magpies took the Bombers too lightly which they won't be at this stage, it's going to be a bit of how much can Glenorchy win this game by, and how the Bombers can stop the forward line that the Magpies have.
