SUMMARY
South Launceston have become a team that has managed to win against the odds, in close games at least last season they managed to capture a couple of big name wins. This season the Bulldogs have managed to beat Lauderdale the side that gave them some trouble last season at the beginning of the year, but they are this week up against the premiership favourites. Clarence managed to dispose of Glenorchy pretty easily last weekend, the game was close at times, Glenorchy looked shocking going forward, and Clarence, well they had a lot of avanues to goal and they punished Glenorchy.
Question marks were over who they were going to get to replace Dutton, well last week Clarence saw many players boot goals for them against Glenorchy, one was playing coach Brett Geappen he just showed a lot of class, and Brennan Savage as well in his first game. Matthew Geappen didn't have any signs of that knee injury he suffered last season. South Launceston won last week in a very unpretty fashion, but a wins a win, but can they do this again this week?
The Roos have an injury concern, with Matthew Geappen given up until game time to prove his fitness for the game, the Magpies knocked around a couple of Roos, Matthew Drury was one of them he was taken off the ground with a massive headache after Jarryd Collidge collided with them late in the game.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Josh Green (Clarence) – One of a many players that had an excellent game against the Magpies, there are others that could have been added, but the young Roo gets the spotlight on him, as a lot are expecting him to be a draftee this season. I'd expect him to have another big game this weekend against the Bulldogs, I do not see many on the ground for them that are going to stop the Roos this weekend.
Mitch Hills (South Launceston) – The co-captain of the Dogs, an experienced head, and the ruckman for them he will be one of a few of them that is going to need to stand tall. The Dogs can move Marjek Miar to the ruck from the forwardline but they are going to have to have a big game.
QUESTION MARKS
The only question mark over the Roos right now, would be will Geappen manage to play for them today? Would the Roos find it a worth while risk against a side that they'd be expected to trounce?
South Launceston haven't managed to have a happy time of it against the Roos, they have been belted both times, the Roos were given a minor challenge against the Magpies, but then the Magpies packed up shop and went home, can the Bulldogs under Chugg pull off another big win?
WHO WILL WIN AND WHY
Clarence showed a lot of class against Glenorchy, they managed to a few times go coast to coast and goal without the Magpies even look like going near the ball, their forward set up was dangerous, their backline was dangerous and their midfield was just unbeatable and we have managed to see the unleashing of anotehr possible Webberley as well with Josh Green having a starring role for the Roos. The Roos have doubts on the fitness of one player, you would think unless Geappen was close to fitness that the Roos would not risk him, or at least have him remain on the bench most of the time and just play one man down for half of the game.
It is hard to see where the Bulldogs are going to win, this should be a predictable result, I do not see the Bulldogs winning this game at all, Clarence realistically should smash them, which would be a shame for the Dogs, after a confidence boosting win against Lauderdale, but the Roos are a class above the Dogs.
