FORM: South Launceston was valiant early against Lauderdale before being blown away in the second half. Launceston rumbled on relentlessly with a 44-point win over Burnie, the Blues 16th from 16 rounds.
BURNING QUESTION: Will former Hawthorn top 10 national draft pick Mitch Thorp be back next season to help the Bulldogs climb up the ladder? With first place sewn up and only the lowly South Launceston and Devonport to come, can the Blues stay focused and switched on for the final two rounds?
THE KEY: All eyes will be on Launceston full forward Brian Finch. He is on track to become the first man to kick a century in the TSL with just five required. His past two games against the Doggies has brought bags of five and nine. It will be Finch's second consecutive Hudson Medal come season's end.
WHO WILL WIN AND WHY? The Doggies are only playing for pride but that won’t be nearly enough against the rampaging Blues. South Launceston is building an impressive group of young players in John McKenzie, Dylan Riley, Michael Musicka and Daniel Johncock but that is for the future, not for this season against the experienced, talented Launceston.
TIP: Launceston by 92 points.
