FORM: Outside second-placed Launceston, Lauderdale has the longest current winning streak in the competition. The Southern Bombers first ever trip to West Park resulted in a win over Burnie, the club’s fourth on the trot. Glenorchy’s form curve leading into the split round seemed to be on the up, but then had arguably the club’s worst performance for years with a 93-point hammering by ninth-placed Hobart at the TCA.
BURNING QUESTION: Can Lauderdale continue on its impressive late season run and keep its slim finals hopes alive? How will Glenorchy respond from such an uncompetitive, insipid performance that it served up last round?
THE KEY: 200cm flame-haired ruckman Andrew Phillips has been a great pick up for the Southern Bombers since crossing down from Triabunna. His TSL and state under-18 has been so good he has been talked about as an AFL draft pick. If he can continue to dominate the ruck, the Bombers might continue their impressive winning streak.
WHO WILL WIN AND WHY: Expect Glenorchy to bounce back this round because it was putrid last week against Hobart. But the Southern Magpies are coming from a long, long way back. If they serve up another shocker for the second week in a row, there will be some tough questions asked out at the Magpies nest. Pride and retribution might be enough to just get Glenorchy over the line in a tight contest.
TIP: Glenorchy by 4 points.
