FORM: Launceston has taken the mantle as the form team of the TSL after knocking off Clarence last round; the Blues ninth win a row. Devonport had a comfortable win last round over South Launceston and cannot afford to slip up with North Launceston, North Hobart and Glenorchy just one game behind.
BURNING QUESTION: How will the loss of centre half-forward Nathan O’Donoghue – suspended for the rest of the season for reckless umpire contact and wrestling – affect the high-flying Blues? Can Devonport take down a top-two team and show it is a real chance for the 2010 flag?
THE KEY: With O’Donoghue out for the rest of the season, even more focus will now go to the TSL’s leading goal-kicker Brian Finch. Finch is fast on the lead and extremely strong for his size making him a difficult match up for any side.
WHO WILL WIN AND WHY: Even with O’Donoghue’s absence, the Blues appear to have a ready replacement in Mariner Joe Groenewegen. The son of former AFL player Robert, Groenewegen made his name at the championships in defence but can play across half forward. The Blues also have an edge in the midfield with Scott Stephens, returning Beau Green, Tim Bristow, Adrian Finch and ruckman Andrea Miar.
TIP: Launceston by 15 points.
