FORM: By far the two form teams of the competition. Launceston has now won eight straight games, while Clarence is still undefeated after 14 rounds. But there have been the occasional worrying sign for the undefeated Roos. It took a superb five-goal last quarter by Trent Standen for Clarence to come from behind and defeat Devonport last round after it trailed at the last change for the first time all season.
BURNING QUESTION: Can Launceston show the 2010 flag is not a one-horse race by inflicting Clarence’s first loss? Can Clarence overcome yet again a host of injuries and put another challenger in its place?
THE KEY: With Blues captain Scott Stephens in scintillating form, where he must be the Tassie Medallist favourite, Clarence’s Clint Riley might just be the key to this mouth-watering contest. Riley is the TSL’s best tagger and has a host of scalps to his name; can he add Stephens to his long list of victims?
WHO WILL WIN AND WHY: Clarence will be missing Brett Geappen (retired), Cameron Thurley, Matthew Drury, Josh Green, Ben Setchell and possibly Brennan Savage. Each time this year the Roos have been hit by injury, they have managed to find a way to win. But the task might just be too much this time against second-placed Launceston at home. The Blues are close to full strength with the return of key position players Nathan O'Donoghue (club suspension) and Joe Groenewegen (flu), have a lot of confidence and appear ready to inflict the Roos first loss of 2010.
TIP: Launceston by 8 points.
