FORM: Lauderdale's great run came to a shuddering halt last round with a 46-point flogging by North Hobart in the mud. South Launceston ensured it would avoid winning its third straight TSL wooden spoon with a 45-point win over Devonport.
BURNING QUESTION: Can Lauderdale bounce back in the best possible fashion and give its percentage a much needed boost? Can South Launceston put a massive dent in Lauderdale's maiden finals aspirations?
THE KEY: Since his return to Tasmania from the VFL, Matthew Smith has been inspirational for Lauderdale in his role as a playing-assistant coach. Hard and tough he has been a bonus in the midfield as well as slotting back to the half-back line to provide plenty of rebound. He and Marcus Fitze provide the leadership and hard edge for the Bombers.
WHO WILL WIN AND WHY? Lauderdale at home is a tough topic for any visiting team, especially coming off a heavy defeat and with its finals hopes on the line. Bombers coach Darren Winter will have his side primed. But the Bulldogs will be no pushover. They have a batch of young pups in Dylan Riley, John McKenzie and Michael Musicka and a quality key forward in Mitch Thorp. If the club can keep this group together better things lay ahead for South, but it won't be this week.
TIP: Lauderdale by 68 points.
