FORM: Glenorchy completely reversed its form with the appointment of Kim Excell. Coming off consecutive 101 and 89-point hammerings, the Magpies upset Clarence by four points. North Hobart has also excelled under a new coach. Since the appointment of Lance Spaulding, the Demons have won four of five, topped off with last week’s 46-point thrashing of Lauderdale in the slop and mud at North Hobart Oval.
BURNING QUESTION: Was last round's win an emotion-related return to form for Glenorchy or will the Magpies return to their mid-season slump? North Hobart has surged to fourth; can it continue the good form against Glenorchy and even push out Burnie for that vital top three spot?
THE KEY: North Hobart captain Ken Hall has been battling ankle stress fractures for the past two months but returned to the Demons last week. He underlined his importance to the side with arguably a best on ground performance. Starting a kick behind play, he was impenetrable for the Bombers as well as winning plenty of ball at the stoppages. If he can stay fit and in form, the Demons are always in with a chance.
WHO WILL WIN AND WHY? Glenorchy could not have been more impressive in its win over Clarence last round but North Hobart's form has been just as good for longer. Importantly, the Demons have won both encounters against the Magpies this season. With Hall, Zane Murphy, Nathan Street, Ollie Di Venuto, Rhys Long feeding the likes of Zeke Gardam, Michael Fisher and Caden Wilson, the Demons have an edge in class that should get them just over the line.
TIP: North Hobart by 12 points.
