FORM: Clarence is in unique territory this season – attempting to bounce back from a loss for the first time. But suffering a loss in round 15 to the second-placed Launceston in Launceston is hardly panic-stations. North Hobart continues to go win-loss, win-loss, finishing with last round’s eight-point loss to the Northern Bombers despite leading by 33-points at half time.
BURNING QUESTION: How will Clarence react to its first loss for the season? Can North Hobart take a big scalp and get some much needed confidence ahead of the finals?
THE KEY: Both sides regain key forwards in Matthew Drury (Clarence) and Jesse Wells (North Hobart). Drury might not kick a bag every week, but he is vital to the Roos structure with his hard leading and stamina. Wells can play forward or back, but has been particularly dangerous forward with 22 goals for the season, including bags of seven and five despite limited games in attack.
WHO WILL WIN AND WHY: North Hobart’s form is simply too hot and cold to seriously threaten the Roos – especially at Bellerive where they have not been beaten since the reintroduction of the state league. As well as Drury, Ben Setchell and Brennan Savage also return from injury. The Demons are also strengthened by the inclusion of Ollie Di Venuto and Matthew Creese, but even the addition of these two won’t be enough to bridge the class gap.
TIP: Clarence by 28 points.
