FORM: Burnie had the better of Glenorchy for close to three quarters last start, but a 10 minute lapse saw the Dockers impressive late finals charge all but over. What was looking like a dreary season for Lauderdale has completely turned around for the Baby Southern Bombers, winning their last three games.
BURNING QUESTION: Both sides were written off pre-season as too young, light-bodied and inexperienced, but both have fired impressively late in the year so just which team has improved the most?
THE KEY: It might just be West Park. It is the Southern Bombers first trip to the odd-shaped ground, and it is expected to be wet and windy. Lauderdale coach Darren Winter spent two seasons coaching the Dockers back in the old statewide league but for most of his young team, it will be their first viewing of the North-West Coast venue.
WHO WILL WIN AND WHY: Lauderdale’s improvement has caught everyone by surprise, but Burnie has been equally as good. Dockers’ centre half-forward Brodie Mihocek looks like a future gun, especially at just 17, while Tyson Weller has also been eye-catching at full-forward. But with the weather conditions expected to be wet and windy, the likes of experienced Burnie trio Luke Shackleton, Kade Munday and Darren Banham might just be a tad too strong for the Southern Bombers.
TIP: Burnie by 8 points.
