FORM: North Launceston’s form has deserted it, losing four of its last five games, including the last three. Two of those losses have come against teams outside the top six in Lauderdale and Burnie to underline how far its form has dipped. North Hobart has been up and down, having alternated wins and losses for the last month, but did record a convincing 52-point victory over Hobart last start.
BURNING QUESTION: Can North Launceston get its season back on track or is it going to fall out of the top six late in the year for the second season straight? Will the real North Hobart stand up? Its last two wins have been over South Launceston and Hobart, hardly a convincing form line to take into the finals.
THE KEY: North Launceston regain Leigh Harding for the first game this season after finally recovering from a broken leg pre-season, while by contrast North Hobart has lost one of its best and most consistent midfielders Ollie Di Venuto. The ins and outs could prove decisive in the midfield clash.
WHO WILL WIN AND WHY: Almost impossible to split on form. North Launceston’s form has been deplorable but being at home could prove the difference. North Hobart has been inconsistent and has repeatedly failed to step up in games against the top six teams. The loss of Di Venuto’s running power and the continued absence of versatile key position player Jesse Wells might just swing the game the Northern Bombers way.
TIP: North Launceston by 3 points.
