FORM: Glenorchy's drop in form contributed to coach Byron Howard resigning just 14 weeks into his tenure. Last week's 89-point loss to Lauderdale saw the Magpies tumble out of the top five for the first time. Clarence continues to march on with last week's 55-point win the Roos 10th in a row.
BURNING QUESTION: How will Glenorchy react to head coach Byron Howard standing down midweek? Can Roos star Cameron Thurley kick a bag of seven goals for the third straight week?
THE KEY: Playing assistant coach Ben Reynolds was one of the big off-season signings. The state key forward started the season with a bang, but his form has mirrored that of his sides. Reynolds has kicked just two goals in his past seven games and has not been named in the best once. The Roos Gregg Sharman has had the wood over Reynolds recently and the Pies desperately need their key forward to turn the tables on Sharman and his form this round.
WHO WILL WIN AND WHY? For whatever reason, the sacking/resignation of a coach mid-season tends to motivate a side and they normally come out firing. But while you can expect Glenorchy to have a crack under caretaker coach Kim Excell, to go from its previous form to defeating Clarence is just too big an ask. The finals are fast slipping from view for the Magpies.
TIP: Clarence by 35 points.
