SUMMARY
South Launceston have had a terrible time of it lately their last 2 games they have been smashed by over 100 points each by North Hobart, and by Launceston last weekend. Glenorchy were pumped themselves by Clarence a team they have struggled to even come remotely close to this season, both sides are in need of a win as the Magpies are looking to keep themselves in contention for the finals, and the Bulldogs just want to get some wins and start to climb the TSL ladder and maybe hope to play finals football.
South Launceston have not beaten Glenorchy since 1996, when Glenorchy was coached by former Bomber Paul Hamilton, they have only played the once since the new TSL's inception and that was at Aurora Stadium with the Magpies walking away with the points, Glenorchy has a few good signs there with a lot of good young players at the club, and the Bulldogs are a young team that has knocked off Lauderdale and Burnie this season, and have taken a couple of names last season, this game at Youngtown Oval could see the Bulldogs find themselves a win and could provide the Magpies with some more headaches this season.
Or Glenorchy could add another 100 point loss to the 2 already suffered by the Dogs the last two weeks and could see guys like Michael Darcy, and David Hunt both boot a bag of goals, there are limitless possibilities with this game.
PLAYER TO WATCH
Clinton Drake (South Launceston) – One of the best last week for the Dogs, another one of the young players the Dogs have that are coming through looking good with each week and will probably be the ones the lift the club out of the bottom.
Nathan Matthews (Glenorchy) – Known as Mr. Consistent around the club, Nathan is having a very good season, and he is one of the players the Magpies can rely on, and he comes up with the goods when they need him. I am expecting Nathan Matthews to have yet another good game, as he starts to form as one of the favourites for the best and fairest medal for the Pies.
QUESTION MARKS
After two 100 point loses in a room, morale at the Bulldogs would be pretty low, can the Dogs manage to upset another team on the run home to the finals, even though they are way off the pace? Or are they going to suffer another 100 point loss?
Glenorchy face Burnie next week, they could really lose a couple of wins, are the next two weeks going to be what sets up the Magpies for the finals this season?
WHO WILL WIN AND WHY
Glenorchy should start favourites in this game, and should have enough quality there in the side to get over the line, the Dogs are going to hope that they can keep the loss under 50 points, but I think that they are going to suffer another loss that sees them resigned to another year on the bottom, unless they can find enough to win any future games along the ways. Glenorchy are going to hope to get Darcy and Hunt firing, and having all their players gve them a bit of a shot at the finals, they may get knocked out the first week this season, but they are a young side and finals experience after the players they have lost would be good.
