FORM: Two trips south for two beatings by about 10 goals by Lauderdale and Clarence saw North Launceston drop from third to seventh but is still well in the finals hunt. It was only late in the match Clarence was able to shake the Northern Bombers and cruise away to victory. Launceston continued on its merry way with another 100 point-plus flogging, this time of Glenorchy, to remain undefeated.
BURNING QUESTION: Can North Launceston cement its finals spot with the upset of the year? Can Launceston maintain its average winning margin of 83 points?
THE KEY: The loss of former Western Bulldogs ruckman Paul O'Shea to a season-ending knee injury has severely upset North Launceston’s balance. Veteran Andrew McLean has been more than handy in the ruck, but with McLean spending more time on the ball, it means the Northern Bombers are bereft of a big marking forward.
WHO WILL WIN AND WHY? Launceston has had little trouble with its crow town rival so far this season, with a 97-point win in round three and a 38-point victory in round eight and it is hard to see anything different here. The Blues are flying with Brian Finch up forward, a host of midfielders and the stingiest defence in the competition. The Northern Bombers rely on too few and do not have the depth of talent and experience yet to test Launceston.
TIP: Launceston by 42 points.
