SUMMARY
In this clash of the Northern Rivals, both sides have managed to capture a win each against each other, and it's been an interesting season for both sides. Burnie the team that a lot thought would not win a game won their first two games and then lost to North Launceston who helped set in motion a losing streak for the Dockers. Then in Round 8 after the Bombers had already lost one game after their winning steak, they lost to the Dockers, North Launceston looked likely to be the team that challenges the roos this season.
They had battled Clarence all the way, but Clarence finally broke the Bombers and ran away with the game, now the Bombers need a win to stay in touch with not only the 6, but the top part of the ladder as they are just holding on and if the Magpies beat Clarence, they may end up leap frogging the Bombers, the Dockers, they need this win after they managed a shock win against Devonport last week, to keep themselves in touch with the 6 if both Hobart and Glenorchy lose, they have a chance of getting themselves back up there.
Burnie have had a lot of people ready to dismiss them this season, they lost a heap of players, they lost their coach, and they managed to pick up a couple of decent players, but the one they really got that was a big pick up for them was Brentyn Milverton. He had crossed over from their rival Devonport, North Launceston missed the finals last season and have managed to stay inside the top 6 if they can win, they have a chance of climbing the ladder a bit depending on other results.
Being at Aurora Stadium could see the game swing towards the Bombers, but we have seen many times this season where a home team has had trouble winning. In their last encounter the Bombers took a full half to get going, and almost stole the game, they are going to need to be more accurate then they have been against the Dockers, the Dockers are going to need their younger players to stand up. Also they cannot allow Shane Wager, or Zane Murphy to get too much of the ball and cannot allow Murphy a former Docker to sneak into the forward 50 to goal.
PLAYER TO WATCH
Andrew McLean (North Launceston) – The only member left of the glory days of the Bombers from the old TFL, he booted 3 goals last weekend for the Bombers, and will be playing in the ruck, the bombers are going to need his experience coming into the last few games of the normal season.
Nick Walters (Burnie) – Booted 3 goals in the Dockers win over Devonport, he's going to be playing full forward, and will need to kick a few, if Darren Crawford is playing and on fire tomorrow.
QUESTION MARKS
North Launceston has lost their last couple of games, and have not been looking like the team that pushed Clarence to their limits, if they lose, will this be the start of the fall of the Bombers? Or are the Bombers just ready to snap out of it and make a tilt at the flag?
Burnie have managed to beat the Bombers before, was it a cause of the Bombers kicking themselves out of it, or was the Dockers just better on the day? The Dockers are a chance to be close to the finals as well, or are they going to win but still miss?
WHO WILL WIN AND WHY
North Launceston at home are always going to be too strong, bad kicking was against them before even though the final score saw them peg back a big lead, they were still inaccurate and didn't deserve to win in the end. But they are going to turn it around this tiem I feel, and they are going to be too strong for the Dockers, who are enjoying a better season then was previously predicted for them. It will be very close, and I think the Bombers are getting home.
