FORM: Since winning its first three games, North Hobart has had just three more wins from the past eight rounds, culminating in its second loss against Glenorchy at North Hobart Oval last week. South Launceston continues to struggle, having lost its past five games.
BURNING QUESTION: Can North Hobart make its home ground an advantage having dropped its last three games at the old league headquarters? With only five percentage points separating South Launceston from last-placed Lauderdale, can the Doggies avoid “winning” the TSL’s first two wooden spoons?
THE KEY: With centre half forward Zeke Gardam struggling for form – having kicked just two goals in his last seven games – the Demons rely on key forward Jesse Wells to kick a bag each week. But former Western Bulldog draftee Wells is facing a fitness test due to hamstring tightness and his absence would be a big blow to the home side.
WHO WILL WIN AND WHY: North Hobart has been hit hard by injuries, but South Launceston is continually losing a pack of its best young pups to the Mariners, and does not have the talent to cover such talented players as Jay Blackberry, Michael Musicka, Dylan Riley and possibly John McKenzie. With this quartet out, the task is simply too much for the Doggies.
TIP: North Hobart by 28 points.
