FORM: Unbeaten on top of the ladder after 11 rounds sums up Launceston's form. South Launceston is starting to show some promising signs in the second half of the season. The Bulldogs recorded their second win of the year last round with a six-goal victory over Hobart & their second win in three rounds.
BURNING QUESTION: Can anyone get near Launceston before the finals? Just how much has South Launceston improved?
THE KEY: While most attention has been on Blues full-forward Brian Finch and his quest to become the first man to reach 100 goals in the reborn TSL, Sonny Whiting has quietly been going about his business. In his first year back with the Blues after a season's hiatus, Whiting has been an excellent foil for Finch with 26 goals, including 11 in his last four games. The Blues were found out in last year's finals series with too much reliance on Finch but Whiting and Co., they are spreading the load and are far more difficult to shut down.
WHO WILL WIN AND WHY? It is excellent to see South Launceston's form curve on the up, but getting anywhere near the Blues is simply too big an ask for the young Bulldogs as this stage. Launceston has class, size and experience and should bolt away to their 12th straight win.
TIP: Launceston by 89 points.
