FORM: Launceston is smoking hot at the moment, having won five straight to jump to second on the back of a 74-point thumping of previously second-placed Devonport at Devonport. North Launceston just got over the line on virtually the last kick of the day at home over Hobart, leaving both of this round’s combatants on seven wins and four losses.
BURNING QUESTION: Can Launceston now declare itself the second best team in the competition? Is North Launceston a true premiership contender or merely just filling up a spot in the finals but short of the true top teams?
THE KEY: Tasmanian and Launceston captain Scott Stephens is in scintillating form, kicking goals and dominating goals from the midfield. Can run all day and is a regular supplied to the Blues dangerous midfield. The Northern Bombers will need to quell his influence if they are to pull off a win.
WHO WILL WIN AND WHY: North Launceston will be greatly boosted by the return of Zane Murphy – leader in the RACT Insurance player of the year – from a three match suspension but Launceston has too many big guns up forward in Brian Finch and Nathan O'’
onoghue that should help the Blues kick a winning score.
TIP: Launceston by 20 points.
