FORM: North Hobart’s has plummeted so fast, it resulted in playing-coach Clinton Brown jumping ship or being pushed out the door depending on who you talk to. The 35-point loss to Lauderdale was the fourth in five rounds that has seen the Demons sink to seventh but only one game off third. Glenorchy did was required against South Launceston with a 93-point victory that has the Pies in third spot.
BURNING QUESTION: Will the departure of playing-coach Clinton Brown and the arrival of former Devils interim coach Lance Spaulding reignite the Demons spark? Glenorchy only has wins over the two bottom teams, Devonport and South Launceston, in the past six rounds; can it claim a legitimate scalp?
THE KEY: Boom recruit Nathan Street put in his best performance three rounds ago against Hobart, but the Demons need the former Devils star to fire in the big games not against the bottom sides. If he can turn it on against Glenorchy, he might be able to get the Dees over the line.
WHO WILL WIN AND WHY? What a big week it has been at the former league headquarters. The resignation/sacking of Brown and now the announcement he will line up for Glenorchy after this round should have the Demons firing. But the motivation of a change in coach is offset by the likely continued loss of captain Ken Hall with an ankle injury, the Demons might be pumped up but may not have the artillery to take down a Magpies side boosted by the return of Rhys Mott, Simon Spencer and Clinton French.
TIP: Glenorchy by 12 points.
