FORM: Devonport won its first game of the season against Launceston back in round four, and has not lost since winning seven on end to race to second on the ladder. Launceston is also travelling well with four wins on the trot.
BURNING QUESTION: Can Devonport continue its unbeaten run and show it is clearly the second best team in the competition behind Clarence? Can Launceston knock off the Northern Magpies and stake its claim as the TSL’s No.2 side?
THE KEY: Devonport forward Ben Reynolds was sensational for the state team last week – perhaps the only shining light – with his strong marking and consistent leading. He took contested marks deep forward and on strong leads up the ground. If he can get anywhere near the same delivery against Launceston he will be impossible to stop.
WHO WILL WIN AND WHY: The loss of former captain Beau Green to a knee injury may prove costly for Launceston. The Blues have plenty of dangerous forwards of its own in Brian Finch and Nathan O’Donoghue, and with the midfield battle between Launceston’s Scott Stephens and Devonport’s Trent McCrossen, it is easy to see why this is clearly the match of the round. In what should be a ripper, Devonport might just sneak across the line at home.
TIP: Devonport by 2 points
