FORM: North Launceston has won its last two to join Glenorchy and Burnie in third after its five-point win over the latter last round. Devonport could take very little from last round, belted by 130-points by Launceston to remain rooted to the bottom of the ladder.
BURNING QUESTION: The Northern Bombers have by far the worst percentage out of the teams fighting for third spot; can it receive a big boost against the struggling Pies? What can Devonport gain out of a season that has gone from terrible to horrendous?
THE KEY: Allan O’Sign has been moved forward in recent weeks with excellent results. He kicked four goals against Hobart and a game-high three in the low-scoring win over Burnie. Good on the lead, smart and a reliable kick on goal, he has given the Northern Bombers another target and allowed Darren Crawford to switch between the midfield and attack more regularly.
WHO WILL WIN AND WHY? Devonport just does not have the cattle to test most of the TSL teams, especially one eyeing off a final – and possibly third spot. The Magpies simply cannot match the likes of Crawford, O’Sign, Shane Wager and Michael Praciak – even with the loss of ruckman Paul O’Shea to injury.
TIP: North Launceston by 89 points.
