Kermandie are no more
February 27th 2010 08:52
Kermandie's existance in the SFL seems to be over, as the club has again failed to secure the playing numbers for a reentry into the SFL this season. The Robins went into recess in 2009 due to player shortages and the club has again, despite their best ability lured players to the club. Crisis talks on Wednesday night failed to ignite passion from the locals. While a last minute meeting on Thursday with rival Huon club Cygnet left the door ajar for the Kermandie colours to live on in the future via an amalgamation, Webb is facing reality that the former Huon Football Association powerhouse, which was founded in 1887, is soon to cease existence.
This has left preisdent Ron Webb a shattered man, and close to kissing goodbye to the 123 years of football the the club has had in the Huon FA, and later the SFL, to make it even worse the club had recently secured a premiership over Huonville in 2007, the league will no doubt continue to have a bye now unless Channel who also has left the league due to financial problems re-enters the league in 2011.
The league could face future problems should New Norfolk be granted an entry into the Tasmanian State League, alongside fellow SFL club Kingborough, also viving for a spot in the league. The Eagles were runaway premiers last season, even though Lindisfarne battled hard to snatch that flag away from them/ Recent departures may help see the league a more competitive one as the Eagles smashed every side they faced last year.
Tasmanian Football has in the past lost some very successful clubs, amd now another club is facing the grim reality of being forced into extinction.
