Glenorchy met with former Melbourne high-flyer Russell Robertson last week about the possibility of him returning home to Tasmania to coach the Magpies. Robertson 31 played last season with Shepparton kicking 111 goals. The club is expected to have an answer in the next week whether or not he is interested in continuing talks with Glenorchy.
Glenorchy also met with Jason Laycock last week as well, but Laycock has decided to join the Burnie Dockers, Laycock who was originally from East Devonport, has opted for the Dockers, because of work, and life outside of football.
Russell Robertson was once a Burnie Docker himself, he was drafted to Melbourne after he took a big grab for the Tassie Mariners. It was featured on Almost Footy Legends on Channel Nines 'The Footy Show.'
Glenorchy had a great response to their plea for a coach with AFL experience in 2011, the Magpies are still awaiting Jason Akermanis' decision which the club expects to come just before Christmas.
