Glenn Balmforth joins Melbourne
February 24th 2010 05:56
Glenn Balmforth has accepted a role with the Melbourne Football Club as a Community coordinator Balmforth leaves Glenorchy after just twelve months as Game Development officer he came to club from NTFA Division 1 side Old Scotch. This is a huge opportunity for Glenn, and Glenorchy wishes him all the best in his new role with the Melbourne Football Club. He is not the first person from Glenorchy to gain himself a big AFL role at a club, David Newitt and Rodney Eade have both gained positions within AFL clubs, Newitt being the only player from Glenorchy to have not played an AFL game and been given a role as a coach at an AFL club.
The news was reported by the Glenorchy website Newsletter that he was departing the club for Melbourne, it's a fantastic opportunity for him, and also good for Tasmanian football to see Tasmanian Football personalities able to join an AFL club, and learn the inner workings of an AFL club. This also helps promote Tasmanian Football, as it shows all the talent that is around Tasmania right now.
Good luck to Glenn at Melbourne.
