NEW Norfolk has changed its coach but not its will to win premierships as new boss Matthew Smith told yesterday's SFL launch his Eagles were aiming for three straight flags.
The Eagles have won the past two premierships and dominated the competition along the way.
If opposition clubs expected any respite this season, they are in for some bad news.
"I think we'll be stronger than last year," Smith said.
"We're definitely stronger with ... the inclusions of Sam Hall, Zeb Graham, Kurt Styles, Josh Hall and Zac Clayton.
"So it's exciting times for the club."
It is Smith's aim to bring the club a premiership threepeat.
"Most definitely," he said.
"That's everyone's footy goal, that's the ultimate, and we're no different to everybody else. Even though we've won the last two, it would be nice to think we're able to win a third."
As the Eagles get strong this season, Smith predicted the whole SFL would get better.
"They're definitely coming after us," Smith said.
"The competition this year will be a lot stronger. Sides like Huonville, Dodges Ferry and Kingborough, they will all have improved by a fair bit.
"They have recruited well so I'm expecting those sort of teams to be right up there."
Cygnet has appointed first-time coach Matthew Tyrrell, who can see the potential for significant improvement at The Port.
"The club has been down for the past few years and last year finished middle-of-the-road," Tyrrell said.
"I have set us a realistic goal to try and make the finals."
Kingborough will be led by Adam Henley for the third season and he has had to make changes to the way the Tigers go about it as they depart Kingston Beach oval for new digs at the brand-new Kingston sports ground.
"We've had the change our game-plan because we're going to a bigger ground," Henley said. "It's going to be a great ground to play footy on."
The SFL season starts with a night match between Brighton and Glenorchy at Pontville on April 1.
