Dockers shock Magpies in opening clash
April 4th 2010 16:21
A summer of turmoil? What turmoil? One would think that when looking at how the Dockers went about upsetting the favourites Devonport at Devonport Oval underlights on Good Friday. The Dockers lead all day to runout winners 9.10.64 to Devonport 9.7.6. The final score was actually a Burnie win by 1 behind, but the umpires got together at the end of the game and rounded it up.
To add insult to injury in the game former Magpie Brentyn Milverton who crossed over to Coastal Rivals Burnie in the offseason booted a goal to help set up this upset win. The Dockers are not expected to win many games this season, and are widely tipped as wooden spooners by many football followers after the crisis that hit the club when they gave the coaching position to Brent Plant. Well this seems to have been all eased with a very hard fought win.
