PREVIEW
A week after their biggest Season Opener ever Clarence backs up to play the Burnie Dockers who they have had a bit of a rivalry with over the journey. Clarence and Burnie clashed in two Grand Finals, both of which the Roos walked away with the win. In 2009 Clarence and Burnie played out an epic final at Aurora Stadium, where Justin Plapp had the final kick of the game, and missed to send Clarence into the Grand Final. Since that time the Dockers have not been able to get back into the finals. A mass exodus last season almost forced the Dockers under, but the Dockers were close to finals.
When they met a Clarence side at Bellerive last season, it was a brutal affair, Clarence smashed them everywhere, a humiliating loss to compound the loses of key players over the summer months. But with the end of the 2010 season the Dockers injection of Laycock who was targetted by GWS' coach Kevin Sheedy for a return to the TSL, also bringing back Nick McKenna from South Adelaide, and adding Sam Whish-Wilson, Claye Hardy, Rohan Baldock and Scott Matheson into the team, the Dockers have strengthened their squad.
Clarence were already a strong side, they have lost both Geappens to retirement, Josh Green to the AFL, Clint Riley to Smithon, Trent Whitelaw to OHA, but they have some decent ins with Jack Boon & Josh Nibbs returning to the club. Tom Balcombe coming in from AFLQ, Bailey from the Central Hawks, George Fitzgibbon from Canberra, whose dad played in Tasmania for the Roos. Stuart Beechey back from retirement, and Mitch Williamson from Lauderdale.
The Roos had a rocky start, the Magpies overran them in the end in that famous game at KGV Oval last weekend under the lights. The old head of Cameron Thurley showed that he still has what it takes here in Tasmanian Football. The Roos only lost one game last season, the young Dockers managed to push some teams at the start, but fell away, even fell away late in the TSL Season.
Clarence are still a powerful side, some would say that they and the new Glenorchy side could again meet in a Grand Final, but could this young Docker side impress and take the points away from the Roos?

PLAYERS TO WATCH
Jason Laycock (Burnie) – The former Essendon ruckman makes his return to Tasmania not for East Devonport where he played junior football for, and not for the Magpies, no for the Dockers. A man that was courted as a mature aged rookie for the Giants in the AFL. Laycock decided that he wanted to play in the TSL and now the eyes of the North are on the big man. The much maligned Bomber returns to the state after copping a lot of criticism there in the AFL, can he become the states premier ruckman?
Trent Standen (Clarence) – Young player of the year last season, Standen came back to the club after time away last season, and he made an impact. Against the Magpies he managed to boot 4 goals, and was one of the Roos' best, he and Thurley could've been what lead the Roos to a win over the Magpies. Standen is clearly one of the best young players in the league, and is an excitement machine, and one to watch.
QUESTION MARKS
Like Jason Akermanis, and Mitch Thorp, Jason Laycock comes to play in the Tasmanian State League, a league that most have had their own criticisms over, over the last few years. Can the big ruckman fit into this young Dockers side and be able to help lead the Dockers to win this game?
Clarence with only their 2nd loss in a their last 20 odd games sees them in a spot they haven't been in for awhile, 0-1 after their first game, how will the Roos react to this? Will it be without a furious nature that sees them blow the Dockers away, or would the trip up the North West Coast be too much for the Roos?
WHO WILL WIN AND WHY
It takes a brave man to bet against this Clarence side right now, they may have lost last weekend and they may lose another two or three. But this Clarence line up always finds a way to recover their season, always finds a way to be up around the top. The young Dockers may find a way to stay with the Roos during the game, but finding a way to shut the Roos down is going to be tough.
The class that will be on display from Clarence is going to show a distinct difference between the two sides, while Jason Laycock is a big addition, and the Dockers have Luke Shacklton who has been showing a lot of promise in this league. The Dockers still lack players that can shut down the likes of Cameron Thurley, Trent Standon, Jackson O'Brien, and Angus Brettingham-Moore. You can add Charlie Riewoldt into the line up, the young brother of Richmond's Jack.
You start to see that the Dockers are up against, and at the end of the day this is why Clarence is going to win. They are a dominant side, they are a good side, and a loss here and there is not going to prevent them from being around the top of the table.
