SUMMARY

Arch rivals are going to look to tear it up at Bellerive Oval, Glenorchy have been saying they wanted the game at North Hobart, the Demons however they don't care where it is played. The 1990s saw these two team play off many encounters where the Magpies were left heartboken, the season was 1993, and Glenorchy had gotten over the Burnie Hawks at North Hobart Oval, which set up a date with the Demons, Kim Excell's men, fell away after half time as the now Glenorchy assistant coach Byron Howard lead the way to see the Demons eliminate the Magpies from the finals.

It's ironic now that the man that masterminded the downfall for Glenorchy throughout the 1990s at full forward is now the man that is the assistant to Ben Reid, but Glenorchy are hoping to continue their domination of the Demons. The 200s has seen the sudden switch in the ledger here in the rivalry, Glenorchy last lost to the Demons back in the 2008 Final Series at KGV Oval, since then it has been a Glenorchy domination.

Glenorchy suffered another heavy defeat against their Northern Magpie rivals, which has set up this clash, for North Hobart they were in every department, and North Launceston raced out to a 42-point lead, The Demons had just one goal to its name, while Bombers Kristen Higgs booted three goals from seven scoring shots in the first half. North Hobart was able to get back into the game through Ken Hall’s work at the stoppages and across half-forward as the Demons kicked the last four goals of the half to be amazingly only 15-points down.

It was young forward Troy Cunliffe who put the Demons in front with a clever snap from a roved marking contest, and all of a sudden after leading by seven goals, the Northern Bombers found themselves three points down at the last change. The Demons had targets up forward in Paul Allison (five goals) and Caden Wilson (three) and with Hall and Greater Western Sydney recruit Sam Darley dominating around the ground, it seemed only a matter of time before North Hobart hit the lead.

When they last met, it was the battle for the double chance at KGV Oval, and North Hobart
slumped to their third loss of the season to Glenorchy, this time by two goals. Glenorchy dominated the first half, but North Hobart fought back to hit the lead in the last quarter. However, the surge was short-lived, as the Southern Magpies rebounded again, with Jonathan Bowring leading the way with four goals while Simon Spencer dominated the ruck.

There is no doubts that his final at Bellerive Oval will see it all, goals, biffs, bumps, and brawls and by the end of the day, the drama will see one team off to see Devonport, if Glenorchy did it, they will face a team they have not beaten this season, if North Hobart do it, they will see a team they have faired well against.

There is a chance that this game could go right down to the final moments again, and the team that survives the pressure, will walk away with another week in the finals, the loser will be watching from home and wondering what could have been

PLAYER TO WATCH

Daniel Joseph (Glenorchy) –
The young Magpie took on and beat Trent McCrossen, one of the Northern Magpies' best players, the young tagger managed to bring one positive out of the loss last weekend, and this boy has a good future ahead of him. He will be a player the Magpies hope will do that same it should help the Maggies on the way to a win.

Paul Allison (North Hobart) – A massive five goals against North Launceston last weekend, the former coach of the Kermandie Football Club to have not coached has been a revelation for the Demons this season, he has been a bit of a wrecking man against some teams, the Demons are going to need another five from this man. He will cause Jade Hodge a few problems, the Magpies may need to call in Mark Corbett to shut him down.

QUESTION MARKS

What kind of mood would be in the camp of the Magpies after they were heavily beaten last weekend? The Magpies wanted the game at North Hobart Oval, AFL Tasmania didn't, are the Magpies suddenly scared of the Clarence Fortress?

North Hobart are back where their season ended last year, they are playing a team that has had a strangle hold over them for the last 2 years, is history set to repeat itself again and the Demons are going to fall out of the finals? Can North Hobart capitalise on the damage done by Devonport?

WHO WILL WIN AND WHY

It's a hard game to pick, their clashes have been close, and have swung back and forth until the very end. Glenorchy have the wood over the Demons, the Magpies are also coming off a hiding last week, can they get back up against the Demons? I believe they can, this Magpie line up has managed to bounce back time and time and time again. But are they starting to run out of that fight that has made them a team of fighters.

North Hobart had a chance to become a premiership favourite early on in the season, they have bounced back from being 40 points down late in the Third Quarter against Glenorchy and almost stole a memorable win at North Hobart Oval, but the Magpies rallied to win. The Magpies came close to losing to Burnie, but a last quarter fight back saw the Magpies overrun the Dockers.

Unbiased as I possibly can, I can see the game going down to the last 30 seconds of the game, a lot on the line, pressure everywhere and one kick could decide it, but I can also see one side blowing the other one out of the water. For the Demons I believe this is will be season over, a game at Bellerive Oval against a side that has had the best of them in 2010 even though they have been close games gives me the faith that the Pies can bounce back to set up another showdown with Devonport next weekend.

If the Demons do go down this will be the last game in red and blue for Sam Darley who will head to Greater West Sydney next season, he will leave in October. Good luck to him, and good luck to both sides this game is going to be a tough game for both sides.
